This week, Sue Lovejoy took the pulpit in place of Pastor Randy Bolen with the able help from Teresa Baker as her Worship Leader. The services went as we sang songs of worship and praise as well as hearing Sue’s Sermon titles, “Fighting the Fine Fight”. Sue brought out the fact that in 2nd Timothy, toward the end of chapter 3, Paul exhorts Timothy as the church leader, he should remember what he had been taught since the beginning, when his mother, Eunice and his grandmother , Lois taught him the Holy Scriptures and how we need to hold true to the things which we have learned (chapter 3 verse 14), and in chapter 3 verse 16, that all Scripture is given by God and why so that he could lead into chapter 4 we should be ready, in all seasons to preach the word, “be instant in season, out of season; rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering (*patience) and doctrine(verse 2 of chapter 4) and then to go on to say that we need to be ready at the end of our lifetime and that our “fine fight” will not end until our lives end and we go on to be with the Lord and all of our loved ones that have gone on before us.
It is evident that the 2nd letter to Timothy was in the last part of Paul’s life for he says in verse 6 & 7that he is ready to be offered up to the Lord and that his time is at hand and how. If we stay our course and fight the fine fight, we have a crown of righteousness waiting for us (verse 8). Then in verse 16, we are reminded that even if we have to go it alone,, we MUST continue our fine fight, continue running that race regardless of whether or not we have anyone running with us because and it states in verse 17, “Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me…”and then to go on in verse 18 that “the Lord will deliver us from every evil work and will preserve us unto His heavenly kingdom…”. Brothers and Sisters, at that very second, we will be with the Saints of old and all that we love that have gone on before us of whom we long to see once again and even better than that, we will be at the right hand of our Father in Heaven right beside our Saviour, Jesus Christ! In Jesus Name! So here are the questions of the week…
1. Am I standing firm in the faith of Jesus Christ?
2. Will I stand firm in the “Fine Fight” until the end of my life?
3. Do I know for sure that God is there, even if I have to RUN THIS RACE ALONE?

What a wonderful picture of literal Scripture.... Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old , he will not depart from it.
